If I was a less honest person I would approach a bike shop and pretend to be interested in purchasing a bike, and I know a certain brand that would gladly issue a bike for a weekend worth of "testing "

 

But that means I will also have to ride that certain brand. My inbred will never forgive me....

Hi there RnR, what parts are you getting from Grant?

Post some pics when you get them and of the end product, when they are fitted.

Always good to have parts like these laying around so you can have options. When I converted my old 26er to single speed I kept the old groupset, just in case.

So here she is.

 

Xt 10spd derailleur, with full cable housing from SLX shiter.

Sprocket and Jack did the cabling really neatly, following the brake hose along the downtube, and then at the bb, the cables part ways, with the gear cable neatly cable tied to the rear wheel stay.

 

32 NW chainring from kitted takes care of business in front.

 

Gonna keep her rigid for now, but I may just fit the fox I have in the garage to make them bush tunnels all the more fun. ( but then we are getting to the heavier side of the spectrum )

 

Taking her to avianto for a shakedown tomorrow. And breedts on Sunday.

The derailleur is attached to an adapter to fit in the horizontal slider. Has an adjustment screw to get the position just right.
