What is the weight like on those Metas? I wrote them off thinking they were a freeride bike. They look rad!

Metas have a history of cracking. There is a thread somewhere on the Hub where this was discussed.

Metas have been around for a long time, so a blanket statement like yours is hogwash.

Every bike company experiences problems with certain bikes at certain times.

Thanks for all the input guys. I feel like the search is narrowing down. How does it work with dropper posts. Are there sizes to fit most seat post tubes? Also with rear suspension bearings and bushes in older frames are they easy enough to service and replace or are there some frames to be weary of?

This specialized would be the ideal wide bars, single chainring and some fancy other parts. It's a bit too far out of my budget unfortunately.

based on the size required you will battle a bit but if you patient you will find something on here.

I had a Giant Anthem 26 er. I now have a GT hardtail 29er, with a dropper seatpost. I think the 29er HT is a lot better, faster downhill. More about skills than the bike. Also the 29 er wheels roll much better over bumps and obstacles.

So something to consider, don't rule out the 29er hardtail.
