I may be missing something, but I haven't seen any news of Wanty Groupe Gobert apllying for World Tour status. They are miles ahead on the Pro-continental scene, but if they don't apply there would be no reason to relegate Dimension Data.

Relegation implementation only from end of 2017

Gen are there even enough teams out there for them to implement something like this?

the money in cycling only allows the guys at the top to eat from woollies the rest shop at PnP.

the total salary bill for all rides at TDF was less than PSG first team squad!

If they will actually implement it end of 2017 is another question... that was just the latest that they were planning and agreed on-apparently.... But it and other changes will only happen if ASO say so[emoji6]

Here's an article about the changes..

If they drop, they'll still be at all the ASO races, DD being a French company. I still maintain, they should have started focusing on GC this year already and bought a decent rider for 2017...

Last I checked Nippon had bought them out and DD headquarters still in Joburg?

Or have things changed?

worrying at least .... see below extract   or

read the article here .....http://cyclingtips.com/2016/09/why-dimension-datas-place-in-the-worldtour-is-under-threat/

In mid-August, it wasn’t just Tinkoff and IAM set to disappear from the WorldTour ranks. By losing its Merida sponsorship to the Bahrain project, the team currently known as Lampre-Merida seemed destined to downgrade to Pro Continental status. But then the team was bought by TJ Sports Group and became a player again in the race for a 2017 WorldTour license.

“That was a surprise for everyone,” admits Douglas Ryder, general Manager of the Dimension Data team. Now, his team may have a problem. Despite being one of the most successful teams in the WorldTour it is at the bottom of the team ranking. As a result, its WorldTour license is at risk.

Bahrain-Merida was caught off-guard too. There was an agreement for that team to buy most of Lampre’s infrastructure, along with the contracts of the riders set to be part of Lampre in 2017. Now that agreement is no longer in place and the riders seem set to ride for Giuseppe Saronni’s TJ Sport/Lampre setup next season.

A particular case is that of Louis Meintjes. He is close to fellow South African Brent Copeland, Lampre-Merida’s current general manager and future general manager of Bahrain-Merida. Meintjes was set to follow Copeland to Bahrain but now doesn’t know what his future holds. “Still unclear,” he told CyclingTips at the Vuelta a España.

Wonder if the new Chinese Lampre team will be riding Chinese Colnago's..

ProcyclingStats use a different calculation than the UCI ?

Actually now would be a good time for someone to explain to me how the team points are calculated .. does a % of the riders points go towards the teams

points.?

http://www.procyclingstats.com/rankings.php?c=1&filter=1&id=16383&nation=&class=WT&compare_to_id=0

PCS hands out their own points like skittels.
