iam are gone anyway. I don't see how the criteria can be adjusted mid season, planning happens way in advance

Well that you'll have to ask the UCI and ASO...

I have lost track of where the IAM guys with valuable points are moving to because wherever they go that team will get their point (as stated before team points calculated on top 5 riders in team).. I know the one is off to Trek.. but can't remember where the rest are off to

Nope not yet, but soon

"The UCI did not comment directly on this article. However, teams had to submit their documentation to the license commission by Monday. The UCI will report on those applying teams by the end of this week."

Thanx, Gen

If DiData gets relegated, it'll be a real sad step for African cycling

25.10.2016 | (Lucky Strike) - The increasing signs that in the next season 18 WorldTour teams will go to the start. According to the information available radsport-news.com Cycling Union UCI should have sent positive signals to the Team Association AIGCP that they would waive the originally planned reduction to 17 teams. A final decision will be taken at a meeting of the Professional Cycling Council on 8 November.

The AIGCP had the UCI already asked not to shrink in the course of the planned World Tour reform the number of Erstdivisionäre. For season 2017 18 racing teams to apply for inclusion on the World Tour, including the German Zweitdivisionär Bora-Argon 18 and the new Bahrain-Merida team. After the dissolution of IAM from Switzerland and Tinkoff from Russia are free two licenses for the new year.

Cool!

Phew! ????

Definitely the better way to go about it.. teams now have 2 years to plan so they have enough points to stay in the WT before the reduction to 16 teams, much better than just announcing changes for the next year midway through the season.[emoji106]

Now DD have a chance to plan their racing according.

Dimension Data looks set to keep its place in the 2017 WorldTour after an agreement between the UCI and Tour de France organiser ASO to modify their deal on WorldTour reforms that originally reduced the number of teams to 17 next seasonCyclingnews has learned.

Several key stakeholders involved in the reforms and management of the UCI WorldTour who wished to remain unidentified have confirmed to Cyclingnews that the 2017 WorldTour is set to include places for all 18 teams who applied, pending approval of the licence applications.

The decision will not be final until approved by the Professional Cycling Council (PCC).

The UCI will hold its meeting of the Professional Cycling Council to finalize the rules for the 2017 WorldTour in November. The final decision on who secures the WorldTour places will then be confirmed by the UCI Licence Commission.

Cyclingnews understands that the plan is to award two-year licences to the teams, giving them some stability and confirmation that they will in theory have a place in the sport's biggest races, including the Tour de France. The teams will be free to decide if they compete in the 10 new WorldTour races added to the 2017 calendar.
