Help with shock please

Does anyone know where I can get one or two of the little nylon balls that are used in the Monarch's bleed port? The one in there is crushed.

You'll get one with the rebuild kit. Otherwise I've got them, had to import by the thousand from the US but PM me and I'll send you some.

Thanks Drew. I'm on the verge of sending this shock to you. The white ball is crushed into the port, and I can't get it out. So it can't bleed the oil out at I screw the red cap back on the damper, so I suspect the little plate that separates the IFP from the damper fluid is being pushed down. The shock subsequently drops down in travel during a ride and then stays there. driving me mad.

The stuck ball means the bleed port screw's been overtightened. Easy enough to remove, just needs the right amount of force in the right direction.

The sticking down part - did you replace the air can seals, did you clean the can properly in the process, and is there any wear on the inside surface?

Thanks for the reply. The drop-down happened after a service with a reputable local bike shop. New seal kit installed. I did strip it again to see what was going on - I usually service the thing myself. There was a lot of thick grease in the oil can, so I cleaned that out completely. The inside of the can look great - nice and shiny. No grooves.

Plot thickens. No seal under the red damper cap.

2-023. From your local o-ring supplier.

The stuck down bit will probably be due to some kind of contamination in the air can or a damaged quad ring allowing air to get past the main piston seal. The RS seal grease is quite thick, so I wouldn't blame that necessarily - although there's oil that's added as well which should thin it down a bit.

Wish they would put in 2 per kit.  I got mine from the UK- not cheap!.  Naturally since I brought them in I haven't stuffed up so I have not used any yet.

Thanks for your help Droo. The first time I opened the damper the oil was all brown, and some had pissed into the air can.

New O ring - R21.00. All fixed. Shock works like a bomb - so smooth.

Thanks for the help again.
