Helmets and injury prevention

Anyone know where I can get a helmet for a baby/toddler? My lightie is 10 months old and I just bought a baby chair for my bike as well as one of those platic motor bikes. We won't allow him to use either till I get a helmet. Was at my LBS today and they only had ones for about a 4 year old. They said they can order but it's pricey(about 800) and I should try a baby toy shop or even possibly makro. Problem is at this age he will probably only use it for a few months then it's too small.

Try Game as they used to have smaller helmets. I cant remember the brand though and they were in blue or pink only. Unfortunately be prepared to purchase quite a few helmets as they do grow out of them rather quickly.

Unless you keep their helmets on permanently, then their heads will stay small, like a bonsai.

I managed to get one at sportsmans warehouse. It has a ratchet at the back and on the smallest setting it just fits him. Paid R330. The quality doesn't look too bad. It has a sticker inside saying it conforms to this standard and that regulation. Not like he can get up to strava KOM speeds on a plastic motorbike anyway.

That sounds perfect. You will be amazed at just what little boys can get up to on those plastic motorbikes, not so much speed but other stuff....

Maybe this is a rhetorical question or the answer lies in simple economics BUT why are helmets becoming so expensive?

Because, after years of successful lobbying for helmet laws, helmet companies now have a captured market that is shrinking because of those same laws?
