Im glad for this but why does it take a police offer to be robbed before any action is taken. Surely all the robberies, bikejacks etc the unfortunate people who were robbed went straight to the police to make cases? Or am I missing something?

Many ways of looking at it and it is a fair question.  However the report said he was on patrol and essentially on duty.  So I can only assume he contacted the right people that could act immediatly and did not need to go report first.

Had he not been on duty he propably still knew the right people to contact immediatly.

One must always remember that the police have their fair share of false reports to deal with as well. So if one of their own reports a problem then it would only be logical that things happen faster.

But action was taken, he was there to patrol because of the crimes reported. I think this is the best possible outcome - caught in the act by the patrolling police officer - well done!
