Good starter full suspension + good resale value - Trek Fuel EX 7?

Apologies in advance if forum members are tired of this type of question.

I am thinking of buying a Trek Fuel EX 7 29er. Cyclelab sells them for ~ R30k. I want a decent bike although I am not planning to do anything hardcore anytime soon - just a comfortable, versatile bike that will cater for most weekend permutations.

The other factor which is quite important is to have something with good resale value if I want to upgrade or end up not using the bike.

All thoughts welcome. Thanks!

Welcome to bikehub

and condolences!

If you already think you might not use it then rather go for a 2nd hand bike - plenty around - resale value will stay more or less the same.

Plenty really good 2nd hand bikes available at below R10k with good spec.

If you do get bitten then you will also be more informed to get the bike that suites your type of riding.

(I wonder what % of bikes sold gather dust?)

*** NB *** frame size is very important

That is a great value for money bike, there are others in the same price bracket but in terms of versatility you will not go wrong with a slightly longer travel bike (130mm over 100mm) and the handling will be more confidence inspiring than the shorter travel bikes as well.

The Fuel is a 120mm bike, not 100mm.

awesome bike and you will be very comfortable on this geometry . Trek also has a life time warranty on the frame for the first buyer that's the advantage of buying a new bike.
