If you go with the Maxxis option, get the Aggressor for the rear instead of the Ardent.

I've been running the Aggressor for a couple of weeks now, super happy with it.

Awesome thanks actually saw the Aggressor online and reviews were good but not many people had tried them.

Think I will go for the High roller 2 and the Aggressor. One day MM/RR when I get a wider wheelset.

They'll work, they'll just have less support for the sidewalls on the narrow rims cos the bead will be slightly more pinched relative to its width.

Cheers for the good info, think I will go for the HR2 and Aggressor. One day I will run MM RR when I get a wider wheelset.

Rather opt for the Aggressor as opposed to the Ardent. Also look at the Minion SS for a semi-slick option.

The High Roller II is a fantastic performer in dry and intermediate conditions.

Minion SS looks pretty cool actually, with a lower weight and semi slick option I may start of with that and a HR2 on front. Thanks

Read everything on here regarding tyre choices for MTB wondering what everyone thinks...

Needing new tyres for my Giant Trance. Will be riding table mountain, one day Tokai, Enduro events.

(Using onza Ibex/Canis for XC and general riding working well)

Need a stronger rear tyre as the Canis is XC casing and Im thinking one day I will slice it open or puncture. (Running tubeless)

Option 1:

Schwalbe Magic Mary Evo Snakeskin 2.35 Front and Rock Razor Evo Snakeskin 2.35 Rear

1,530 +/- weight semi slick rear. Just worried that the bike will slip out when climbing rocky sections of trail?

Option 2:

Maxxis High Roller 2 TR 2.30 Front and Ardent 2.25 Rear

1635 weight +/-

I have looked at lots of combinations and landed on the two above for better rolling resistance while still being great in corners and good on the long climbs. Will be keeping the Onza tyres for XC.

I can't comment on the Schwalbe offering, but as far as combo's go, there are quite a few options from Maxxis now available if you're wanting to run a quicker rear tyre / grippier front tyre combo:

Front:

Minion DHF [2.3 or 2.5]

Minion DHR II [2.3 or 2.4]

Highroller II [2.3]

Shorty [2.5]

Rear:

Minion DHR II [2.3]

Minion SS [2.3]

Aggressor [2.3]

Ardent Race [2.35]
