Agree. Goes without saying that early detection is best and going for checks immediately when something is not right.

With prostate issues, it it better to do regular checks even when things are going fine - pretty simple and easy to do - blood test and manual test every 5 years up to 40, then every 2 years - with or without symptoms - but clearly if one has the slightest symptom, then consulting a pro is the only way to go - immediately.

I’m a lucky fella whose Prostate cancer was detected early enough to have it cured.

My message guys is to have a regular check. My regular check has probable saved me an unpleasant end.

As fella who has turned the pedals ever since I joined a cycling club in 1966 I only ever saw a doctor when I fell off my bike.

However when I turned 60 I decided I should have annual medical check-ups , so I began presenting myself at my GP after birthday each year, and he sent me off for all sorts of Blood tests which I eventually discovered included a PSA  test.

In 2010 my PSA was 2.1ng/mL – perfectly normal - the normal range for a 63 year old is 0- 4.0ng/mL

In 2011 my PSA was still within the normal range at 4.0ng/mL but it had almost doubled in a year so my GP dosed me with antibiotics to rule out an infection as the cause of the elevated reading  and I had a repeat test  a month later which showed the PSA slightly higher at 4.5ng/mL.  repeated tests every 3 months showed the doubling time of the PSA was about 1 year.

9 months after the first elevated reading I had a Biopsy which proved a rather aggressive Prostate cancer and for my 65th Birthday I had a radical prostatectomy.

A few months after the prostatectomy, my PSA which initially had fallen to undetectable began to rise and a for my 66th birthday I started a Hormone blockade which dropped my Testosterone to castrate level for the next  2 years . Six months into the hormone blockade I had a daily radiation session for almost 8 weeks.  The combined treatment seems to have successful. My PSA  has now been undetectable for 3 years.

All the time I never had any symptoms at all other than the blood test results.

As I had an more aggressive form of the cancer, if I had not had had the test in 2010,   my cancer may have not been detected in 2011 as that reading was within the normal range . An extra year delay may have made a cure much more difficult.

I have had 3 full Exam check ups over the last 15Y.

My first at 30.

Because of work requirements, exam is only valid for 2Y.

Applied for a new job last November, received this surprise.

My issue is Bladder and Liver.

Bilirubin, both Total and Conjugated are high.

Not sure the volume for Prostate, report says 26cm3 normal.

I have had a Bladder op done, waiting for the report.

Check up in Feb.

My understanding Bilirubin is a condition with no treatment?

ARE you Fit & Healthy?

Going back to when in my Prime, Lol

Some people may have read this in the other Thread.

I am writing this for Cancer Awareness.

Here I thought I was following a Healthy lifestyle.

× Seldom having a drink

× Being a non smoker

× Following a Healthy diet

× My training program was not to Strenuous.

Because of my Cycling, there were always opportunities for me to have a Medical check up done.

(Last Year November)

Yet a year later I received Heartbreaking news relating to Prostate Cancer.

With all the discomforts associated with Bladder, Colon and Prostate, life can still be Bearable.

For me it was a life changing moment.

Life is very Precious.

I may have been lucky.

Waiting for my next Check Up

REPEAT

I may be the lucky one.
