This is why we love Specialized

Nobody likes a fanboi, not the least me. But anyway, I have ridden Specialized bikes since I got back into the sport around 2007. I got a new S-Works Epic in 2009...

That frame broke in 2010 on a training camp out in Graskop. Spaz gave me a new one, no fuss.

The new one broke again in 2012, after I'd moved to NZ. Spaz gave me a new one, no fuss.

Had a few kids and didn't ride for about 2 years; got back on it in the last year, the Epic broke again a few weeks ago.

Spaz no longer makes 26 inch bikes.

So Spaz NZ says, 'Here are your options: we give you an S-Works Epic plus front fork, and exchange your Deore XT wheels for 29 inch ones. Or, we give you a brand new Epic Expert, complete.'

My local bike shop owner was concerned they may not have my preferred colour choice.

I'm blown away. Only problem I have now is which option do I go with. What do you guys reckon?

Good service I guess.... but seems like a poor product

maybe it's time you switch ;)

They all broke in the same place...and if I can be riding a 2017 model bike not having spent any money since 2009, well, that's is definitely not a handicap in my book!

Although I have accidentally joined the 29er gang which I swore I never would. That part is involuntary.

That is excellent service, but I still wouldn't ride one...

haha - I'd never ride a Scott, a Merida or a modern Pinarello, just don't like them. Would def ride a classic metal Pina though...

Agree!

I don't like Spaz, never have... BUT... give me one of their Shiv's, and I'll ride it forever

Funnily enough I'm fond of the Shiv too, but for them to give you one you have to give them a stupid amount of cash!

... and that for something I'll only use a couple of times a year

No you won't- it will break.... every 3 years....

I am curious as to where these bikes all break in the same place?

At least my bike will never get old... and if you have a Spaz MTB, and 29ers become the new 26" as everyone upgrades to 32" or whatever the next must-have wheel size will be, you'll always be in fashion
