Hi All,

I'm looking for self catering places that cater for cyclists with MTB trails that offers nice scenery, wild game  and has a pool to cool off after rides. Seen a few from googling however i would prefer going on recommendations / referrals rather than looking at a website and not knowing how it really is.

Soo have any of you been to a venue that you could say was fantastic ?

Let me know

thx

Perhaps not for a weekend away, but consider the Garden Route Trail Park in Karatara near Knysna. You can do that, as well as Harkerville over the few days you would be there.

You will be hard pressed to beat that experience anywhere else in SA.

Apparently Karkloof is the bee's knees.

I think Misty Vallety near Machadodorp is still operational, but not quite sure. There's riding on the farm itself, with Tranquilitas and Mankele nearby.

Sondela near Bela Bela is also an option.

Mankele MTB park is near Sudwala caves and Sabie is close enough if you want to mix it up a bit, although the trails at Mankele more than adequate for most riders.

Karkloof is the bees knees, just missing the pool but you can take a dip in the river instead.

I've also been to Mankele. If you want to save lots of money you can also camp. Some of my friends have gone camping and MTBing in Sabie before.

Hi,

Izintaba Game Farm in the Waterberg is fantastic for MTB, I am a bit biased because it is my farm, but I am sure it is exactly what you are looking for. Only 3 hrs from JHB. There is nothing too technical, but just being able to ride in the bush with relatively tame game and some single track.....have a look at the website www.izintabalodge.co.za
