I'm not sure why you posted this here?

Do you want the farmer to come here and say he is sorry and you can have the 2 permits at the mistaken price?

You have already spoken to him, he has already told you to take it or leave it. So after all that you come ranting here? Do you really expect a different outcome to the one you already have?

Do you expect the hub masses to gather their pitchforks and bring critical mass so that you can prove your point?

*I don't know the farmer, I haven't ridden Welvanpas in about a year. I have no vested interests.

It's a fair rant and an open forum. The OP has an grievance and wants to spill it and to be honest that advert was pretty shoddy if you run a business (yes trail permits are a business, mountain biking in SA is a business). I don't think he is looking for a movement to light the pitch forks, Just share a issue. Just like 95% of rantings here are not going to change a thing in the wider world but we post here all the same to inform, amuse, vent or just because something annoyed us.

So we are just spreading negativity. Achieving nothing but satisfying our own urge to be heard?

Side note :

If you think it is the trail fees that keeps the business of trails on farms afloat you are mistaken. I know of two farms with trails that cannot even maintain all the trails with permit fees. It is the events that bring in enough capital to do maintenance and expand the trail network. Flip, there is a thread here about a guy moaning that Oak Valley has started to close the farm on rainy days as the damage that occurs by riding wet trails are way more than the permit fee.

The one farmer mentioned above is considering closing his trails to the public on a permit basis and only allowing access for events. Rogue riders and people phoning him to complain about stuff like grass that is too long has become more of a nuisance than the income. He doesn't have time to deal with this.

Rants like this doesn't help. We are just making ourselves more of a las.

Hy pak af, nes ek sou by my vriende na so 'n ervaring.

Moet se, buiten vir die dame by die koffie winkel het ek nog net slegte ervaringe gehad of gehoor mbt Welvanpas bestuur.

Philip

It is clear that you don't agree. That's your right, I RESPECT that.

Let us tolerate each others different views.

We live in a world where platforms like this are used to spread good news or bad news. In this case it was a bad experience for me.

Will it change the world? HELL NO.

So allow me and everybody else to do us, and you do you and we ride on.

Enjoy your day

Some are and some aren't,  what I'm saying is that coming here and having a rant isn't about really about changing things. Do you think 5 pages of everyone agreeing and that the carnage in our road need fixing is make a change at a level where it needs to happen? Same with complaining about TMNP policies.  But it's a community of like minded people talking about their passion, experiences and things that they love and things that wind them up. Much like having a beer and trying to set the world to rights.

Nope I have never said that. I know and am related to a couple of farmers here who run trails here in the WC. But the fact is if you charge and if you advertise then you have real customers and they do pay money. It may not cover all the expenses but that money does go into the coffers and help towards some of the maintenance. Unfortunately there are 3 sides to every story and we only have 1 so we don't really know who said what and how.

100%. There are alot of threads here about lot of crazy things and that is one. This thread was simply about an advertised price, someone who was annoyed (as you're allowed to be) and that's pretty much it.

I'm pretty sure there are alot more threads here that have caused more *** than this and some things could be dealt with better by both sides. The recent carnage to riders in our community this weekend should really put a lot of the smaller gripes into perspective.
