Event Name: 12 Hours At Killarney 2017
When: 30 April 2017
Where: Killarney Race Track, Western Cape
Category: Road

How many laps can you do in 12 hours? The Killarney track is just over 3,2 km long, so do come and find out! This new event will start at 08h00, which means the last few laps will be done in the dark.

Your medal will be linked to the number of laps completed, with a minimum number of laps needed for a bronze medal.

The Killarney restaurant will be open so that you can 'refuel' during the day.

RULES

  • Riders must complete as many laps possible in 12 hours.
  • Riders can enter solo (individual) or in teams of 4.
  • Only one rider per team will be allowed on the track at a time.
  • The event starts at 08h00 and the last lap must end after cut-off at 20h00.

DIRECTIONS TO VENUE

From the N1, take the N7 North and exit at the Table View / Refinery off-ramp onto Plattekloof Road (M14). Turn right on Koeberg Road and continue straight across Blaauwberg Road). Please use the southern entrance to Killarney (follow the signs). Signs will direct you to one of the designated parking areas.

NOTES

Pre-entries only, closing on Monday 24 April 2017 at 23h59 or when 1 000 entries have been received. There will be a water station at the rotation/team change-over point offering coke and water. There is a Restaurant and Bar available at the venue.

Medals will be performance-based (bronze, silver, gold), linked to the number of laps that you have completed.

While the lights around the track will be switched on between 18h00 and 20h00, participants must please bring their own bicycle lights for this part of the ride.

No helmet, no ride. No transponder, no time. Medals will be given to riders that complete the event within the set-out criteria.

Was a great event, great for supporters to see you more than once. Amazing to ride your road bike without worrying about cars, robots etc, well done to Killarney to get involved more with promoting safe cycling. Riding at night was also great fun!

I had to leave before the night. Was a bit dissapointed with the turnout TBH. The fast group was WAY too fast and the next group was marginally too fast. Would have been rad to have about 6 groups rolling around the track.

 

Oh. Killarney is NOT FLAT!!!
