Raised stem

for comfort, for me anyways, you can try the following to see if your hands are to far forward or not. Ride your bike and glance down. Draw an imaginary line between your hands. Se if this line is in line between your eyes and the front axle. If it is then you are likely set up right. If not then if your hands are in front of the axle then you need a shorter stem if behind the axl (which I doubt) then you need a longer stem. Also move your seat back to the middle. The seat backward is increasing the distance between your handle bar and ass making you sit lower and hence more in a racing position. Move that seat back to the middle. You can even try moving the seat forward. This will make you sit more upright and reduce the "I am racing" feeling...

edit: your saddle should be set up in relation to your knees with regards to the pedal axle. As in, clip in your shoe or place your foot where it should be on the pedal. move the pedal position to 3o'clock, as in the middle of the power stroke. Sitting on the bike use a plumb line from your kneecap to hang down past the pedal. It should be in line with the axle of the pedal...

Mtb, medium frame is all it says on the tube, my height is l.69m.

Possibly repeating something already said, but 1.69 on a medium makes me think that the bike may be too big to start.

Possible corrections:

- shorter stem

- short and raised stem

- move saddle forward on rail

If all else fails, upgrade bike.

Just fitted a shorter stemcand wider bar. A small difference. You guyscare gonna think im nuts but its like there is nothing in front of me.

Maybe i should ride it for a while. Someone mentioned here that it takes getting use to.

Thanx for the info and links guys. Much appreciated.

Sold the bike and bought a Giant Revel 29er. And yes its a medium. Much more lenient ride and very comfortable. I dont get that over the bar feeling at all. For arguments sake, i tried a large as well, a nut on each side of the top bar while on my toes. Definitely not a good idea.

Thanx guys for urging me on to get the medium. Checked out a few Youtube vides and the links shared, these helped quite a bit with seat position and a general setup of the bike.

Thanx
