Event Name: Cradle Mountain Trophy
When: 8 April 2017 - 9 April 2017
Where: Maropeng amphitheatre, Gauteng
Category: MTB

It's back! The two-day mountain biking event which has proven to be an exhilarating experience and will take place over the weekend of 8th and 9th of April 2017.

This is without a doubt the most popular and spectacular 2-day event in and around Gauteng.

The beauy of this event is that it takes place at Maropeng in the heart of The Cradle of Humankind, so there is no long drive to get there. And the weekend caters for riders of all abilites – offering distances from 75km to 25km.

Riders will have the option of competing in four different events as SOLO riders (no teams):

1 – The Cradle Mountain CHALLENGE – 75km on Saturday the 8th

2 – The Cradle Mountain TROPHY– 75km on Saturday the 8th and 40km on Sunday the 9th of April

3 – The Cradle Mountain ADVENTURE – 40km on Sunday the 9th of April

4 – The MINI Cradle Mountain Adventure – 25km on Sunday the 9th of April

The Cradle Mountain Trophy promises a fantastic offering of single track, plus some challenging off-road, and of course some good technical aspects. But do remember that we are calling this the “Mountain Trophy” for good reason. It is not all flat. We will be making good use of tracks and trails which have previously been used for private events.

Entries will close on the 26th of March. No late entries will be accepted.

Various food vendors and beer garden will be available throughout the weekend.

How will the current and forecasted (tmrw) RAIN affect the route in terms of difficulty & danger...

Wife's fractured ribs are healed but doesn't want to take unnecessary risks before Sani2C...

Also doing Trophy.

Mud wasn't too bad... rode with the wife for Sani2c training... she managed to finish 11th overall for the 75km Challenge with a puncture... she was 20 min faster than the next lady... man doping... there was no prize money in the Challenge. She bruised plenty of ego's out there :)

I had fun on Sunday for stage 2 (wife had a work commitment) - suffered the full 45km... finished 10th on stage 2 and 14th overall.

Very average event , lots of riding on grass and little to no variation in trails for the second day .

It's a pity , you would think there would be some lekker riding out that way .

Agree, surely they can think how to make this a little more exciting than riding along a fence or patch next to a main road for 10-20 km.

And a stage 2 which covers 50% of what you've done on stage 1... should be discounted by 50%.

A well organised event, so not complaining too much ;)

That's exactly why didn't do this race again. The 2nd day is pretty much the same as the first baring 1 or 2 sections.

I think it is very well organised but they need to sort out there routes otherwise im sure they will be losing alot more people.
