Recently bought shoes for the girlfriend, which are flat road shoes, but the spin bike uses SPD pedals, so we had to go that route. Fortunately she can wear flip flops to gym and only switch when she's at the bike, but there's still the damage that's going to happen on the road. So these cover things looked ideal, but impossible to find.
