mmm i was looking at a TREK 6900 WS 2007 model the other day for R 6 200.00 seemed to be a good buy' date=' but being a roady i'm not sure[/quote']

I am not sure either and my lbs bike shop clearly has his favourites, so i am trying to gather as much info.  That way he can't bullsh*t me.

Colour, confirm what colour she wants.

Size, measure her inseam personally.

Reach, check the bike is short enough.

Handlebar height.

Spec, make sure the gears ext are the best you can afford.

Tyres, Tubeless.  (girls don't chjange tubes)

Enough sexist banter.

What do you guys think of the Raleigh RM8.0, i can get a new one for R10800?  However someone did tell me to rather go with SRAM but i see it comes with Shimano and the dealer won't swop it for me.

Don't listen to anybody when they tell you to go Sram. It's six of the one and Sram is crap.

The RM8 is nice but it's carbon. If your wife is new to MTBing she will end up on the ground a few times. Carbon get damaged more easily when it hits a rock or get scrapped. Not worh it in my oppinion. It's got the same components as the Silverback mentioned but over a R1500 more.

There's also the Merida Juliet 900-D that should be in that price range.

It's one of those bikes that they reverse engineered from a broomstick, so it will have all the right bits & dimensions for the women folk.
