A 50k or a 5 k trainer are no different to each other.

It all depends on how much you are prepared to work and suffer.

It's the same as with bikes a 100k bike may be lighter etc but if you 5kgs overweight and 100% not prepared to suffer you ain't going nowhere.

Well a 5k trainer means a dumb trainer, which is boring, like watching paint dry type boring. Spending a bit more for a smart trainer is worth it, as its makes the suffering more fun; you will wanna be on the trainer for longer, so I do not think your analogy is correct.

^this, if it cant adjust resistance to terrain and give you all of your stats then its both boring and removing the training assistance that power provides.
