on the Friday, you better off riding within the suburbs. head from LaLucia, down to Suncoast-[ or Ushaka], and then loop back via NMR Avenue onto Umhlanga Rocks drive all the way past Gateway and then back down to La Lucia.

There has been an increase in bike theft/jackings in Durban so just be aware.

No road is safe to ride on, we at risk every time we get onto our bikes so we just have to be carefull.

Precisely why I don't want to go meandering about solo...

Will keep a look out for rides.

Safe option, go get a speed session in those legs on Thursday morning at the beachfront Circuits. Drive down to Suncoast [parking is free for cyclists] and just slot into a group on the road. Be on the road by 4:50 for a warm up lap.

Then Saturday, just join the guys at East Coast Cycling from Suncoast at 5:30.

Hi.  For anyone looking tp spin their legs before Sunday, East Coast Cycling will be doing two easy rides on Thursday and Saturday, both starting at 6:00am at Suncoast Casino.

The Thursday ride will be a flattish ride out to Umhlanga and back to the Point before ending at Suncoast for coffee.  Saturday will be even easier just to check everything on your bike is working as it should be and to spin out any last traces of lactic acid in your legs.

All welcome.

At this stage to be going too hard would not be very clever!

Cheers

For those in umhlanga area, there is a circuit of sorts there that is used quite a lot. From umhlanga you head towards town on ridge road, turn left at the end of ridge and into marine drive. All the way north on marine and left at the end . up the hill and left into ridge again. It works out to around 7km per loop wit about 70m elevation gain.

Strava can help you work out where those roads are. I will be riding that route on Friday morning. There is even a small trailer type food truck that makes some of the best coffee around on marine drive.

Going down to Umhlanga in 2 weeks for a holiday. I will go visit this food truck.
