You can, but it's a bit thicker than the Shimano stuff so your lever return may be a bit sluggish. Best to use the proper stuff.

I've been using LHM+ for a while now and can't feel the difference

IIRC the Shimano stuff is around 10 cSt and the Castrol is closer to 16 cSt.
