Upgrading American Classic hubs

Hi guys

I have a set of American Classic Victory 30 DIsc wheels.  The hubs on the wheelset has seen better days.  I either need to rebuild or make a switch.  The wheels did not spin the greatest when they were new.  They came std with AC Terrain hubs which are not great.  The hubs are 24H.

Can't really see affordable options locally.  Chainreaction Cycles has Hope RS4 hubs set for R3 500.  Thas about R1 000 less then what the wheelset costs new.  They also have Prime hubs, a set will be about R2 500

I have never bought new hubs before.  Would I need to buy new spokes as well or would I be able to continue with my existing spokes?

Any advise would be appreciated

Thanks

Those wheel sets are going for around R4600 at the moment (CWC,Solomon's).  That will be better than buying hubs and rebuilding (my opinion).  As far as I know they are sealed bearing hubs so should not give the problems you are experiencing.

If you decide to rebuild rather go for a few more spokes and brass nipples.  They are CX/Gravel wheels after all.

If you get the same hubs you can reuse the spokes but again I would rather just go for the new wheels rather than new hubs on old rims and spokes.

Replace the bearings... they will be back to good again... cheap and easy...

They are cartridge bearings so designed to be replaced rather than serviced.
