Last year I was part of a small group that rode from Port Edward to Msikaba and back, it was such an awesome experience that I'm now trying to plan a ride from the casino all the way down to east london.

Has anyone ever done this?

Is it even possible?

And does anyone have some GPS files that they'd be happy to share?

Did the same route previously, from the Casino to Msikaba. Agree it was a awesome experience great riding and ice cold Zamalek's.

Our group was lead by Jan from Clear Water Trails, perhaps he can let you know if its possible

Awesome ride just need to get the tide right, we missed it coming back and had to float bikes across lagoon to get back to Wild Coast Sun.

I'm not sure it is, there's my problem. I don't see anyone else having done it so I'm thinking that it isn't possible, really hoping this isn't the case though

I dont know the bit above Port St Johns, but from Umngazi to Kei is ridable, see Imana Wild Ride. I'm sure that there is a company doing the Port Edward to Port St Johns bit, or there was a race down that section.

Check out Pondo pedal, It is ridable but with some river crossings the time of year must be considered. Jan is your man.

Have also done the ride to Msikaba with Jan and the guys from Leverage group. One of my best memories on a bike

Also did the section to Msikaba with Jan, it was an absolute jol. I was under the impression though that's Jan doesn't go much further south than Lupathana?

From what I can see on google the only way around port St. John's is via Lusikisiki which would be ***

No. jan operates from Clearwater.

Pondo pedal rides are based from Umgazi but you can get an idea from their website of what is rideable from that section.

I don't know, I looked at the 1:50 000 maps and it looks doable. Port st Johns, you ride up to the bridge and then around to the town, via Silaka NR to Umngazi bungalows. The rivers that you need ferries between Umngazi and Coffee bay are Umngazi, Umngazana, from here you need to ride inland and around to the coast, It's too rough to cycle the coast. Find someone with Wild Ride route sheets. Then Mtakatjie, and Umnthata rivers are big. South of Coffee Bay it's only the Bashee and Xora rivers that are big, and the Bshee's sharky too, but organise ferries at these rivers from the Haven and Kob inn hotels.
