Visiting Addo for a few days next week and taking the mtb along

Was basically planning to cycle up & down the Zuurberg pass but yesterday on Supersport they had a nice insert on the "Zuurberg Trek" and the singletrack looked awesome...

Any locals on the hub that can recommend easily accessible routes & trails in the area?

Google shows the Hayterdale Trails?

Oh, good call. I'm keen to know as well as we're heading there the week after next. Got a week in the Karoo first followed by some Ele' spotting. Not sure if I should take my bike or if it's just going to be taking up space.

There is some awesome single track up that way. I used to do the 'double' of the Zuurberg mtb on the saturday followed by the EP herald road race on the sunday.

Really fun trails with LOTS of thorns and that red dust that gets in everywhere.

Have a look at the route and go from there maybe? I unfortunately can't remember how to get there or whether it is actually open to the public

Just a bit of feedback for future reference

The ride up to Zuurberg Hotel and back from the park is a nice 2 hour dirtroadie ride, the pass is not very steep (at least that section), road is quiet & views are good. One can extend the ride on the rest of the pass for a 3 - 4 hour out & back.

The Hayterdale Trails were locked up tightly, assume it is only used for events or you need prior arrangement, not the honesty box and there you go type of trail system.

According to a fellow camper at Addo one can also take a left off the R335 to Zuurberg and do the dirtroad to the Slagboom(?) dam, didn't get the chance to try that out though
