That Bontrager is nice (a friend has one and it's bloody bright during the day).

The Cateye looks good too, although I've seen a few people mention issues with water getting in via the USB unit?

I have the Flare R. The first day I got it I asked my wife to see how bright it was. She said she couldn't see me anymore but could still see the light flashing as I cycled away from home.

so I went to the 2 shops last night, and had a look at the lights. held them, played with the buttons, tried to look at the light and I am now the owner of a flare R.

The cateye seems to be a bright glow, whereas the flare is a "directional beam". If I rode in towns and bendy roads, I would have taken the cateye.

ridiculously bright!! (Like it should be) and will test it over the weekend.
