  1. It doesn't matter what it costs if you either cannot do it or don't want to do it
  2. I would be super happy with a cycle path between the harbour fence and the highway. I'm more worried about being hit by a car at high speed than being robbed.
  3. There are team captains?
  4. Cycling through the harbour is not an option. It is full of trucks who are busy working and is criss-crossed with numerous railway lines. There are too many dumb cyclists for this ever to be an option. They will be riding 4 abreast and blowing through all the stop signs in no time. I would like to see a lane between the harbour fence and the 'highway'. I would primarily just like to get off the highway
  5. He was about to pull out a hammer or machete. In all the years here I haven't yet seen any tough South Africans teach a thief a lesson. What did you want the poor English girl to do?
  6. That section is not freeway. Indeed, when the cycle path was closed we were told we could ride on that part of the N1 specifically because it is not classified as freeway until the 120km/h sign at the Koeberg interchange
  7. Incorrect... although I do agree with the arrogance of cyclists on the road
  8. Cycling Friends in green point
  9. Yes, definitely a no go zone. Vehicles travelling at high speed wil pull into the yellow lane to allow other motorist past
  10. They are pootling along having a chat. If the cyclist was pedaling and overtaking he would have left the car for dust
  11. The cyclists are clearly the idiots here.
  12. Another fatality in Camps Bay right outside the police station. I'm not sure what happened and didn't see an offending vehicle. Be careful out there people
  13. Actually, I've noticed they fly up Chappies from Hout Bay but then go slow going downhill towards Noordhoek while they look at the ocean and take photos at 20km/h
  14. But they seem happy enough to sit behind a coach on Chappies doing 15km/h. I doubt the scheme will work because motorists see red when they see a cyclist. It's the same in Australia. It used to be the same in inner city London until they made everyone drive at 20mph and enforce it with average speed cameras. Now they are more worried about losing their licence than cycists. A 30km/h speed limit on Chappies and Victoria road will fix things quickly but that requires speed cameras everywhere
  15. An SUV was cruising along the whole Blouberg beachfront at 35km/h with 8 cars patiently following. I overtook all of them and witnessed no impatience. If that was a bicycle holding them up at 50km/h there would have been shouting, swearing and general madness unfolding. No fund-me scheme will fix this
