Anybody done the Charger 2 damper upgrade on their Reba/SID forks? I am looking at either this or the RCT3 Compression Damper/Rebound Damper upgrade.

Any feedback would be great. I currently have a Reba RL 2014 model that I want to upgrade. 120mm travel.

RCT3 is still an open bath damper (I don't think it got updated AFAIK )

Charger and Charger 2 dampers are both bladder dampers which perfrom very very well and would be well worth it IMO.

Droo should make everything clear in the AM

Yes, I got the pricing yesterday:

1. Charger 2 : R4600

2. RCT3 Compression + Rebound Damper with DIG valve : R3300

For the price difference, go Charger. They're more difficult to service, but on a 120mm fork it's probably worth it.

Also bragging rights.

Just a note for someone also thinking of doing this upgrade. If you are planning to do this yourself, you need a cassette tool/socket. And not the type with a center locating pin. You need the type that looks like a normal socket.

OK, upgrade done. Also removed the air spring, cleaned it and lubed it with SRAM Butter. Lowers service also done with new wiper seals etc. Also repaired a few minor stone scratches on the stanchions with nail varnish and sanded with 1000 grid. Finger test tells me it's not going to bother the bushes and seals.

Did the normal ride down the street test and everything works as they should.

Bombing down Helderberg test will be done next weekend or maybe sometime this week. We'll see how much the boss bothers me.

Thanks for all the advice etc.

BTW, 17 oz tub of SRAM Butter was R600 bucks (eina!), but will probably last me a lifetime. Used Castrol Edge Sport 10W for the lowers.

Looking for the box quickly.

OK, found. Part No. 00.4018.783.003

With the exchange rate the latest price should be lower than the R4149 I paid. But don't hold your breath. We are talking about an SRAM product here.  :whistling:
