OUCH !!!!

revers on both, or just the one side ??

Bikes have reverse thread on various components - on one side with standard thread on that same component on the other side .....

Think it is something like "tighten forward ... undo to the back",,,,

Luckily I didn't try over do it. Amazing that you can't find this info on the net. I had to go into the nearest Trek dealer to find out.

But yes, I think it was reverse on both sides

So here she is...my new mistress. I have been in possession since December 2017 but the riding has just been so lovely that BikeHub hasn't been important. She rides like a dream. Only switched up the bars, went for 810mm from 760mm. Raceface carbon. Bloody brilliant bike. Thanks again okes for the advice.

EDIT: Oops sorry posted on the wrong thread, still relevant though!

I've just picked up my 2018 9.7. Upgraded the wheels to the Line Pro. It's such a good bike, I'm loving it. Way more bike than my 2014 Fuel EX. A bit heavier but more fun. I am getting quite a few pedal strikes even in the high position, that's the only negative so far. Trails here are very rocky, lots of technical step ups. But I've been hitting features I've been to scared to try previously. Stoked!

How much do you weigh? What's your shock pressure at?

Weigh 73kg odd but haven't really played with shock or fork pressure since it was set up by the shop. They used the calculator on the Trek website I think and it was pretty spot on. Not exactly sure what the pressure is. Did notice I was only getting about 10% sag on the fork but was happy with the feel and the amount of travel being used.

Hey guys, just a heads up. Not sure if you already do this, but check that your Minolinks are tightened on a regular basis. Lost one that came loose on my last ride, but luckily the bolt had stayed in. Apparently there have been reports of frames/rear triangles cracking if the bolt comes out too, as there is too much flex then.

Speaking to the local Trek guys when I went to buy a new one, apparently it happens from time to time, so check on a regular basis or use some blue Loctite.

Thank you

Also be very allert for creaks from the rear drive train ..... from feeling perfectly fine during an inspection, to the rear bearing collapsing was only two rides !!  Once the bearing has collapsed the unique "counter sunk" hub design makes it virtually impossible to remove the outer-race of the bearing !  Trek is just too happy to sell you a new hub .... Louise at Knipe_Racing made up a custom tool to extract the outer-race for me.

small design flaw ....

for the rest - HAPPY with my Fuel EX !  :)

I've had some intense creaks coming from the lower main pivot. Nothing a quick clean and lube couldn't solve.
