Route Suggestion for a brazilian first time at CPT

Hey folks,

I'll be in CPT with a freeday on oct 14th and in doubt about choosing a route for a ride.
I'm planning to rent a bike and I don't have a fixed time to drop it off.
I'm in doubt between doing Cape Town / Hout Bay or Whales Ocean Road from Strand (Hottentots - Holland) to the penguin nature reserve.
I'm well fitted and enjoy challenge routes.
Which one do you suggest? Is it safe?
Does anyone would like to come?

Really? We have ridden that route a lot of times without incident.

If you are on the road. I live in Hout Bay. It's probably the best place to base yourself if you are a road cyclist. You can ride over chapmans peak. We saw Whales from Chapmans Peak last weekend. Through to Simons Town. There's a penguin reserve there too if you want to see penguins.

 

**Top tip. Don't pay the R70 to get on to the beach. It's massively crowded. There's a boardwalk behind the reserve and the penguins are 30cm from the fence. I was there last week. I also saw a Rock Rabbit when I was there.

 

From there go to the Cape Point (If you go into the reserve to the point it will add about 24km to your ride) Then on to scarborough. Keep an eye out for the ostrich farm on the right. Them through kommetjie back to Noordhoek and back to Hout Bay. That's about 75km and the road is pretty good and safe by South African standards. Just be sure to be over Chapmans Peak before 9am. That's when the tour busses come out. It can be very windy this time of year making for quite a tough ride.

 

Then on the next day go from Hout Bay to Town via Suikerbossie. It's a great smooth road with stunning views and amazing tar. 50km round trip. You can throw in a bit of climbing by taking in Table Mountain Road and Lions Rump.

I think He's thinking of Boulders and not stony point. Strand to Boulders on a bike would be a death wish.

Ah. I thought he meant the penguins in Bettys Bay. Ja, Strand to Boulders will be nuts.
