Hi

I am looking to get into mountain biking and would just like some advice on a couple of things.

I am looking to purchase a bike, I stumbled accross the Titan Trail 29er going for R5890 (https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/mtb/products/titan-trail-29er-2017) Is this a good choice? It seems amazing compared to the other bikes in the price range, almost too good. I am also wanting cleats, are there any that can be recommended to be?

It's an entry level bike, but it'll do everything you want it to and you are right, the specs are quite good at that price. Not many bikes at that price will come with an air fork.

Cleats are those little things on the bottom of a shoe. I assume that you are talking about shoes. I swear by Olympic, they are best value by far.

A competent starter bike mostly entry level specs 3 x8 speed and bottom of the shimano range disk brakes and yes they are Hydrolic ,Not saying they don't work ,they'll do adequately. As you learn more about mtbiking you'll see that the components vary in price the better quality component the more the price increases.Sportsmans warehouse has a special at the moment on mtb bike shoes if you join their member rewards program. You'll then need pedals the shimano PDM 520/30 range are pretty good they come with cleats to be attached to your shoes. You could also look at flats, pedals you can use with flat soled shoes non clip-in .The rims and tyres come tubeless ready another well worth pursuing option.Otherwise the best advice is get out there and ride riding is the best teacher

Is there any other bikes you can recommend me in the +-7k range?

Look for a 2nd hand 26er in the classifieds. It will be MUCH better than a new bike in that price range. Wheels size and year model matter much less than the fork, brakes, and drivetrain on a bike - all of which will be pretty horrible on a new bike for that price.

A 2nd hand hardtail 26er for that price should get you a brilliant spec.
