Deore I-spec-B brake lever- without shifter?

Hi guys I am not sure if this has been discussed before.

 

My Trance has Deore 615 I-spec-B brakes and shifters-

 

I am thinking of 1x11 with a new Sram NX shifter or new Slx shifter- both of which would have their own clamp (not i-spec-b).

 

So can I remove the Deore shifters to go 1x11 and put the new shifters on, and leave the Deore brakes in place? Do I need a special shim if this is possible?

ya of course, I did it with SLX brake shifter combe when I went 1x11

 

Little fiddle removing the shifters from brakes but takes less than 5 mins and no special tools
