You can get an XT 11x for the price of GX 12x?

All i know is you will struggle to beat value for money on SLX 11spd. They are bomb proof and the cassettes are way more cheaper than 12x cassettes.

Don,t like a 9 tooth sprocket as the smallest and will not use a 50 tooth ever with a 34 in front .That leaves 11 speed 11 x 46 x 34 Shimano or Sram .Take your pic ,i use both and both work fine

Not sure if this has been discussed before but i'm interested to know which Groupset is:

1) Value for money

2) Reliable

3) Overall better product

It depends on your starting point (what's on your bike at the moment) and what sort of terrain do you ride?

Cheapest isn't the same as value for money (but the SLX wins on price and cheaper cassettes in the future)

I cant comment on reliability as haven't ridden either.

Which is better depends on a lot of things including personal preference and points of view

The Eagle cassette needs an XD driver freehub, which will add another R1000 to your cost.

For either, you will need a 1x narrow/wide chainring - so lets equal that cost out.

SLX upgrade kit: R3200 @ Evobikes (https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/groupsets/shimano-slx-m7000-11spd-upgrade-kit-4461.html)

GX Eagle upgrade kit: R5700 (https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/groupsets/sram-gx-eagle-1x12-speed-trigger-upgrade-kit.html)

or GX Eagle with Sunrace 11-50 cassette: R4995 (you lose the 10t gear, but dont need a new freehub body) (https://www.evobikes.co.za/components/groupsets/sram-gx-eagle-1-x12-upgrade-kit-with-sunrace-11-50t-cassette.html)
