What Are My Options For Replacing A Shimano Hollowtech II BB?

Howzit guys,

I have a creaking BB and have serviced it earlier this year in March.

Currently, I have Shimano SM-BB71-41A installed.

Would like to get something proper which will last. What are my options?

Thanks.

André

Are you sure it is the BB?

100% sure, cleaned my bike yesterday. Usually, it is dirt that got into my seat post but I did clean it probably.

And also, it only occurs when I pedals. If I free, there is no creaking sound.

You can also feel that the bearings are not smooth.

I use the Wheels Manufacturing BB86/92 screw in shell and then use Enduro bearings as replacements.  Replacing the bearings in the plastic press fit shells is not advisable.

I've only heard good stuff about Wheels Manufacturing and I presume they are the best in the market. I also noted that they use Enduro bearings. I could not find the correct model for my crank though on my two LBS websites.

check your pedals....often the source of creaking noise that only occurs when you pedal.

That will work.  Supposedly better bearings than the SM-BB71-41 (R430-00) or SM-BB MT500 PA which is R300-00.  As I said earlier if you want to replace the bearings in future rather go for the Wheels Manufacturing (I think Praxis may do one as well) screw in replacements which get around the problem of the pressfit BB noise and play problems.

Cool beans, I hear your point.

What is the difference between these two?
