Odinson Posted November 27, 2017 Share Hola chicas, I'm in need of a new headset and was wondering whether anti-seize is applied to the headset cups prior to pressing them into the frame. I haven't actually seen this done, but wondered whether it is necessary.
bikebloke Posted November 27, 2017 Share grease is fine - just a little - to help seat cups
David Marshall Posted November 27, 2017 Share I prefer to use nothing. Just a clean the surfaces with an oily rag if it makes you feel better. Anti seize products are really for threaded applications and too much grease can cause bonding when the grease deteriorates.
s14phoenix Posted November 28, 2017 Share Nothing if possible otherwise plain (WB grease typically) is best... its similar to Vaseline in consistency and does not melt out. This will help keep moisture out and help prevent oxidization and corrosion between the surfaces. It may still seize but not as bad.
