Your opinion please ?..

Ok I?m looking to buy a mountain bike. Did look as 2^nd hand but could not find something decent so now I?m shopping for a new bike. At the moment I have 4 options, ranking from my favourite to least favourite:

1.        Merida TSF 500D<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

2.       Merida SUB 60D

3.       Giant Alais

4.       Shwinn Moab

 

What do you guys think of the 4 bikes and what would you get giving the choice between those four?

I?m also very keen on Scott so if you know of good options in the same ?class?please let me know.

in that range, get the best componenrty for your buck. persoanl preference is the giant, but that's cos i've been riding a lot of them of late.

lihan, in that list i'd definitely go for hte TFS. I actually would've got one if they came small enough for me to ride safely in all circumstances - I test rode one and loved it in general other than that it was a touch too big - then found out that was the smallest available

The geometry of the Giant and Meridas are way different. See wich ones are the mos comfortable and then compile your list again. For me the Giant and Raleighs felt the same and the Meridas were too short. Don't know about the Schwinns.

My choice would be Merida, but also have a look at Silverbacks i've seen some good bikes in that stable.

yes did look at the silverback dakota, but sort of ruled it out. Any place in Cape Town that will give you a bike for a weekend to test, like a demo?

 yes i already have one. problem is that when i'm on the racer no one can stay with me in the mountain so i need a heavy mtb to slow me down

don't get the merida's, they have a crap frame geometry, (u'll fund out when ur climbing;) get the giant or the schwinn... reliable and good value for money
