JTK Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 Have my flux and want to start getting the most out of it.. However I only have MTB's at home and no short cage derailer anywhere.. What would be the most cost effective solution you guys have come up with? I realise I can probably run a normal cassette and probably go to say the 5th sprocket on the cassette. But it isnt ideal... I assume 1x10 with a short cage is the way to go? Or maybe a 9speed setup with MTB shifters and Road derailer at the back?

dirtypot Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I've seen some people that have modified the base to allow the longer RD - maybe something to look into? The base is a simple piece so shouldn't be too hard to do. And cheaper than trying to change RD's on your bike.

Not sure I want to mod the base, warantee issues and all, but probably be able to build a new one that is vertical on the drive side? Any pics of someone that has done this?
thisismyotherbike Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I ended up buying a cheap used 10 speed 105 aluminium road bike off the classified, having a dedicated trainer bike makes life much simpler. I set it up to have similar positioning to my usual ride.
