Hi There,

I recently purchased a second hand Giant boulder 17" Bike, the front suspension is squeaking.

I've watched some youtube vid's of disassembling shocks. does anyone have more knowledge on the giant boulders front shock for some reason i cannot get them apart, there is no bolt that unscrews from the bottom to loosen the whole shock it's like there is a bolt sticking out from within the shock with two nuts at the bottom ( like it screws in from the inside of the shock. ( hope I made some sense )

Perhaps give the name of the shock as different models of Boulder had different shocks.

It's, in all likelihood an entry level shock and probably needs some grease somewhere.

Hi Eugene,

Thanks for the reply There is no name or code on the suspension i wish i had something to go on,

I was just wondering if anyone had a similar shock before. ( as i described ) and managed to service them.

If the fastener isn't outside, it's inside. There's either a bolt at the bottom of each leg or a circlip under the wiper seal.

That said, that bike was pretty entry level at a very experimental time in suspension design. I highly doubt it was designed with disassembly in mind.

Good luck.
