well that's where you get synergy with the XCO events.

look at UCI world cup. sometimes it's DH only, sometimes XCO only, sometimes combined. I think they quite often take compromises on locations to make logistcs easier

Oh yeah fair point!

I am glad to have found this topic and to see that there are some positive moves being made in the gravity community.

I just got into mountain biking and aiming to do DH.

So with living in GP there one possible track being made currently for DH specific but see other provinces already have some in place.

I have no problem traveling to there "far away" events to support the community and also give me the opportunity to participate in these events.

I am really excited to have become apart of the gravity scene and really hope it grows.

To all the guys already involved with the organizing and sponsoring of these events and keeping the fires lit, a BIG THANK YOU to all of you.

Yeah man, join us! We're a small community but we tend to get things done together. If you're ever in Durban or PMB then send me a message. We're always looking for more people to ride with.

Have a chat to Johan from Hakahana Trails - he is very very very involved in the Gravity scene in JHB. And they are busy with new tracks for you guys for the National Cup Series and SA champs rounds in April (7th and 8th) at Hartebeespoort.

Look up Hakahana on google and give him a shout - they have spans of okes riding up your side

More sponsors! Awesome! Super awesome man. Well done Nige!

Charel, you can't go wrong with Hakahana, one of the places I want to ride at this year. Probably at the top of my list.

Thank you guys,

The whole reason I got convinced to go into Gravity is because of Hakahana.

My first MTB out ride was at Haka about 4 weeks ago on top of my buddies Morewood DH bike.

I was instantly hooked.

I have met with Johan that day, but was so tired and sore (coccyx injury on first day) so didn't go into much details, but will definitely go back there and build on my technique.

Thanks again guys

That is super cool.

Great to have the legend onboard as a sponsor.

I definitely want to come down to KZN to ride there as soon as I am confidant enough that I will be able to drive myself back to JHB and not the ambulance man...lol

Keep an eye out on Facebook for the monthly Gravity Hub social rides at Hakahana trails. The social rides are all about meeting gravity loving riders and learning basic bike skills and line choices needed to tackle the awesome rocky Hakahana trails

There are a number of issues that go into Gravity events (Especially DH) as regulation and logistics dictate that the event needs the following:

1. Large Marshal numbers (generally 10+ people)

... keep in mind ... the World Cup DH utilised 52 - YES you read correctly - 52 Marshals over the week period

.... this is due to regulation stating that marshals need to be in-line-of-sight so as to stop riders if someone has crashed or there is an issue on track. This is the same for National and Regional events - so it becomes very costly in this instance.

For point 1. Can the public or other MTB'ers not volunteer to be Marshals? I wouldn't mind doing it for a day or three.

Wish I could join in on that!
