A-class Sunroof and Thule Racks Don't Mix

Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience as me. I had Thule Aerobars fitted yesterday to my 2015 A200 with a panoramic sunroof only to find that the front feet do not allow the roof to open. You can tilt the roof but it will not open fully. I think this is a bit strange from a company that I would assume has done all the R&D on the cars that it sells (probably hundreds or thousands) of units for. Does anyone know or has had experience with another brand that allows the sunroof to open? Perhaps the Merc OEM racks?

Hi,

Can't help you with your problem (sorry), but do know a quick visit to a Thule Load 'n Go will go a long way to fixing your problem. There's no charge for them to have a look and propose a possible solution so definitely worth the time.

There's one in Bree Street, Willowbridge, Stellenbosch, Somerset West

Thanks, they were where i had the racks fitted. Guys are awesome there and offered to fully refund me.

On another note it turns that even Merc OEM racks do not allow the roof to fully open!

I think it's unfortunately just one of the sacrifices that have to be made with a roof rack, pretty sure the designers of the A-class were did not envision a roof rack to be fitted to that pretty car haha

It's a sacrifice I would make though, roof racks are just so easy and convenient! Guess it just depends what you prefer, an open roof or a bike on your roof. At least you can always see what's going on with the bike...

I know these things are supposed to be safe, I just will not be able to bring myself to do it.... no matter what the numbers and tests show.
