But why would you use you phone to track rides? The battery never lasts a full ride.

How do you get your phone to last 4 to 16 hrs with the GPS and other apps running?

Damn my Garmin 500 only gets me about 16 to 18 hrs and this is frustrating to say the least.

because they have modern phones ...

I have a Huawei p9 and experienced the exact same issues. Googled to try find a solution with no luck. Strava doesn't seem to like Huaweis!

My P9 as well. Strava worked with it the first few times, then it stopped recording my rides. I had an iPhone 5 before I got the Huawei, then sold the iPhone and bought myself a Samsung J1 Mini Prime as a spare phone - that phone has no problems with Strava, the only down side is, its camera isn't in the same class as the Huawei's, for those times I want to take pics on my ride.

just check if you have any battery saving modes on, my phones does the same.

Second battery saving mode.

Also, add the Strava app to the ignore list for stopping apps that run in the background (Battery > Unmonitored apps)

I don't know if powersaving should have anything to do with it, unless you two have S7 models too?

My note 4 has power saving on permanently and I have absolutely no strava issues. the app is even saved onto the sd and it doesn't lag.

Same here with my Huawei.

Used to have a Sony and had no issues with Strava but with this phone I have constant disconnections and partial recordings, normally around the point when I'm busy thinking "wow I flew through there, that has to be a PB"...

As often as not it is perfectly happy to record while I whine, moan and crawl my way up the hill but as soon as I head back down it has a hissy fit.

It's odd because it is a great phone in all other respects.

Strata must be on the protected apps list. Must stay working in the background. I had the same problem . Sorted now.
