Tandemonium 2 Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Just bought a second hand Ravo tandem , fitted with 40 spoke tandem specific rims . Quando hubs . 9 Kilos and three spokes snapped at the nipples . Anyone with experience on these Hubs regarding performence and durability .
mikeking Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Hi Anton b, I have had similar issues, and the worst you can do is replace individual spokes. My troubles ended when I had the rims respoked with small brass washers at the hub end of the spoke.It was most likely just material fatigue.
droo Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Metal fatigue. Spoke washers will make zero difference - double butted spokes and a wheelbuilder who knows what he's doing will. As Mike said though - don't bother replacing one spoke at a time, just get the wheel rebuilt and your'e good to go.
David Marshall Posted February 12, 2018 Posted February 12, 2018 Those hubs have been around for a while. The later ones have sealed bearings so if yours don't I would suggest replacing with newer hubs when you re spoke. As Droo said DB spokes and a good wheel build should see you right.
