Wooden bikes around Cape Town

I bumped into an interesting and unusual group at Ladies Mile this morning while on the way to the start of my own ride. Six guys riding beautifully made Coco-Mat wooden bikes, training for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The bikes were made here in Cape Town. If you see them, cheer them on. (I didn't expressly ask for permission to post their faces, so, sorry if the last picture is cropped a bit weirdly.)

I had to Google a bit, and I post the link for their facebook page.

Wow. I've never seen a wooden bike. I would describe my riding style as wooden tho.

It is just very fresh carbon after all. Only a couple of hundred million years younger than the conventional carbon used for making bike frames.

Hi

Only saw this now. I remember the morning you stopped us for a photo. You are very welcome to show our faces. We are just normal okes :-) I am the bearded guy to the right of frame.

Thanks for the post. Would love to share them on Istagram if possible.

Many thanks

Kind regards

FrankiH
