I am by no means an expert but i would take the advice given on the other thread. Buying ine if these cheapie second hand ones xould easily cost you an extra few grand very quickly whereas the new bike will be warrantied etcetera. Use bike shop not sportsmans and ensure size is correct.

for that budget you can do much better than the old trek

even more so in Cape Town you oaks have all the bargains

Maybe a nice Giant TCR full 105 something that will sell after Argus get bux back

older road bikes either work or they dont- they not MTBs where bits wear out and fall off - test ride it -if it all works and shifts properly and stops under braking and makes no funny noises  - great

check the underside of the frame for damage

check wheels are straight and run true etc

check if the tires are worn out (odd doesnt matter)

if anything seems not to be kosher - walk away

if its all good -haggle the price down as its older and used(but it doesnt look too bad in pics)

people complete CTCTs on a lot worse every year

He says " not sure of size but I’m 6 ft (1.82m ) and it’s adjustable either way !"
I'm 1.78m, so I'm guessing it's more or less the correct size.

Trying to find out about age.

For the price I suppose, is it the correct size? Looks quite old.
