Weekend_Warrior Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 Today when Mtbing in tokai forest myself and a couple of guys where thrown all kinds of abuse by other mountain user for the fact that we cycle up the single track.(maybe they are embarased coz they cant do it) Things like "hey this is a F$%^&ing down hill track" and "are u F*&%ing stupid you are not supposed to ride up here". Cant the people that use the single track for down hill only be a little better behaved and maybe show some respect to the other mountain users? ps. i know its not all of you.
fatcyclist Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 To be honest, if I'm in the zone, zooming down, and see you riding up it, I'd also be slightly annoyed. Areas like the 'fairy garden' are known for having two way traffic, but the rest of the routes tend to be downhill, so riding up them is opening a can of worms. Best ride uphill on the roads, downhill on the singletrack

This has been talked about in another post - aparrently only a cpl of singletracks are Downhill only, purely from an ease of use and technicality point of view (ie: big dropoffs that u just can't ride around) but the rest are 2 way. How else are you supposed to better your technical ability (yes, uphill as well) than riding the st? I know it is a bit of a bore if you come hurtling down, only to see some guy struggling his arse off to get up the track you're going down. But have some common sense, not to mention courtesy. If you see the guy is struggling, he might be a beginner (like myself) who wants to (SHOCK HORROR!!!) improve his skills - move aside. It's alot easier for you (coming down) to stop than it is for him to stop and fumble for 5 minutes to try get cleated again. Even if you're experienced, it's easier to start over while going down, than while you're going up. It all comes down to the attitudes of the riders, and the guys who think they own the track. I thought we were supposed to get guys into the sport, so we can have more people like Burry. This isn't going to happen if we have guys spewing expletives to someone who is simply out to ride, and happens to be doing the st in the opposite direction. Nuff said.

Bionic man Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 I wonder what they would say to me when they come across me lying in the path, cause that's what I seem to do quite often lately. Must be a balance thingy. Prefer going up the ST, don't fall that hard that way. Weekend Warrior and I ride together quite often, he might be slow but that's no reason to swear at him.

I love it.. nothing better, great work out and you are all correct, great training on the tech side.. I heard they were full of bruises and there clothing was torn, so they must be roadies just like me and fall down a lot hence the moodiness
