Cannondale BB30 one aluminium cup missing

Hi There,

We recently bought a 2015 Cannondale Supersix Team edition frame second hand in a very good condition.

However, one of the BB aluminium cups housing the bearings is missing.

So the current plan is:

1. To remove the other cup (and plastic sleeve in the frame) as well and then install a PF30 BB (from Token); This is our preferred option.

or,

2. To try and source a new aluminium cup to install and then use a "normal" BB30 adapter.

Once done we will fit a Shimano crankset.

The questions are:

1.  Can the remaining cup be removed safely without damaging the frame?  If so, how?  Just a tap or two with a Parktool RT1?  https://www.parktool.com/product/head-cup-remover-rt-1.  Any other suggestion?

or,

2.  Will this even work...?

mmmmmm.

"Cup"

Is that like the addaptor thingie to get from 30mm to 24mm in order for shimano cranks to fit?

On the Supersix Evo 2015 you have PF30 BB

Thus the bearing sit inside a sleave (normally plastic) which press into the frame.  This normally gets hammered out with a tool.

I would suggest making contact with Steve Bowman at Omnico and asking him. He's the Cannondale workshop manager, among other things.

Nope, it is 42 mm inside diameter with a solid shoulder at the back.  It certainly seems as if there was a bearing in that aluminium section.  I think the previous owner used Super Record cranks.

First photo shows the Alu "Cup" side.

The second shows the other side.  The marks on the inside sleeve maybe suggest somebody already tried to remove it?

Second photo is how BOTH sides should look like.
