Cannondale Si Top Cap

On the Scalpel, Habit & Trigger Cannondale has decided to use that plastic Si top cap on the steerer. Probably to save money and weight since it weighs very little.

Is there any other top cap that can used on any of the 1.5" steerer (Lefty) bikes?

I either wanna find a thingamajig that can be shoved in there to store basic tools for easy access, or look at making something up that can slide in and out quickly and doesnt rattle to hold said basic tools (mainly puncture repair stuff).

Someone with a 3D printer can help with a cylinder type that can be pulled, and twisted open to access the tools etc.

Thats ideal, exactly what I want.

Ridgeway Cycles in Greenstone imports a couple every now and then, the steerer tool I bought from Ridgeway in November was removed from my bike while we were at Route66 and my bike was in the secure bike park; I guess somebody wanted it more than me. http://www.ridgewaycycles.co.za/

I've found a solution to my specific requirement, both FSA & Thompson sells a 1.5" star nut and top cap combo. Reverse components also makes a very nice 1.5" top cap, however it seems to have been discontinued, just like the one that Cannondale also use to make.

On eBay I've seen a couple of self expanding steerer plugs that claims to be 1.5", they are very similar to what I've seen many 1.1/8" carbon steerers have. I do however think that a plug of that size will be quite heavy.

So I settled on the Thompson solution. Had to wait longer than necessary because of the wonderful new partnership between CRC & Skynet.

But it did arrive last week, and fitment with a star nut setter was pretty easy. I have to add; compared to a 1.1/8" star nut, this 1.5" version did not need nearly as much motivation with a hammer to get into place. But it is in and I am really happy. Typical Thompson quality, it really does look very good on the steerer.
