I know this has been covered with other forks but I would like to know if I can with the removal of the now famous spacer, up the  travel on my Rockshox 30 Gold Solo Air from 100mm to 120mm?

If so will there be any negative in respect of fork longevity?

I'm 100kg and would prefer a slightly more plush front end as due to the entry level nature of this fork it could in my opinion be a bit more absorbent.

Running front tyre between 1,1 and 1,2bar.....

Thanks

More travel wont make the fork any plusher.

You'll just have more disposable travel.

Which bike is it and how much sag are you running on the fork now?

According to the service manual yes you can remove spacers to get 120mm travel.

However, with only 30mm stancions it's already a flexy fork and stretching it out will make it worse.

That probably makes the most sense.

Buuuut, why would they offer a 120mm option?

It does already flex a bit more than I would like...

Think I will hold out and get a better secondhand fork....

Ok.....bit of a surprise.....I have never thought to check, and it's not easily apparent as my stanchions are black thus no printed mm or %....I took a tape measure to them and lo and behold, looks like my travel is actually 80mm.....thats if you measure from just under top of dust wiper to o ring marker

Or am I measuring travel wrong?

If you release air pressure and cautiously press the bottoming out mark is higher up the stanchion. So maybe the fork doesnt hit true bottom out when it has air in?
