Foam Rolling

That's interesting.. i have been wondering about that.. almost bought my son a small handheld roller for hockey tour..cause it gets a bit hectic on their bodies...I should've just bought it.

I see they also use those rollers before games/events..is that a practice regularly used?

Foam rolling was definitely first intended as a post exercise/competition tool to release trigger points. However more and more trainers and conditioners are currently incorporating it in a warmup regime. I have my doubts wether this is beneficial at all. Time is normally off the essence before a match or training and foam rolling should not be hurried otherwise the desired results will not be achieved. Much better to spend the available time with a decent and gradual warm up and some light stretching, as heavy and deep stretching has also been proved to be detrimental before sport, especially those requiring sprinting and sudden power.

And then some...add a growing teen body to the mix it gets hell of a complicated.. he def prepared better for this season than last..went in better conditioned to handle the work load.. and he has been injury free..unlike last year where it was a real struggle with the growing limbs...

 

Thx for advice will def get a roller for the boys.
