Which bike for the kid

I have a mate whose son wants to start MTBing, they do it as a sport at his school, Spur series etc. So he needs to buy a MTB and has no clue as he is not a cyclist.

 

He has a budget of about 10K, kid is still growing but about 1,8m tall.

 

Any suggestions of which bike - 650B - 29er ? size ? where are the best deals at the moment ?

 

I suggested 29er hardtail Large size

 

Any opinions ?

Would say 29er hardtail at that budget second hand you have a decent choice or new you can look at the Titan Drone comp they around R11k with 1x11, air shock and looks cool in the silver and black.

Look at Bike Market in Sandton. Just got Jnr a 29 HT for half price - looked like new, was already tubeless and they gave it a full service. Top notch service.

 

With a R10k budget for a rookie it is a no brainer...

The typical SPUR route is perfect for a hardtail bike.
