Hi all. Looking at getting into some mountain biking. Will be doing a bit of everything but nothing too extreme on the downhill side, cross country riding I think is the right term, some hills, single tracks. Was told not to cheap out on my purchase, but cheap seems to be a relative term in this game. So I set a budget of around 30k for the bike. The stumpjumper st entry level comes in around that price. Now my question is, is it a decent option for what I want to do or is there better/ other option around that price range. I see Scott Spark 2018 models are on special at quite a few places. 940 for 35-36, is that more bang for my buck or are neither of these models really compatible for what I wanna do. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Bang for your buck will depend on the spec. But if similar spec, then the Stumpjumper gets my vote. It's got on the money geo in a short travel package.

Given those 2 the scott spark 940 is much better spec bike and the 1 I would currently go for in that budget. But there's loads of bikes in that price range Trek fuel, Momsen Vipa, Merida 96, Giant Anthem best would be pick about 3 you like best go and test ride it and see which is the winner.
